Brain injury

The Fondation Hopale has a unit specifically for treating brain injuries (the HELIO MARIN Centre in Berck-sur-mer).

There are various different rehabilitation programmes for brain injuries (from mild to severe injuries).

These specific treatment and rehabilitation programmes are tailored to the different stages in the brain injury victims' progress and take into account their progress as a whole, from returning to consciousness to regaining independence and returning home.

"PCSP":Post-Concussive Syndrome Programme.

This programme is for patients who have had a mild brain injury and who still have what is called "chronic post-concussive syndrome" more than four weeks later.

"CAP": Confused Awakening Programme.

This programme is for patients with a traumatic or non-traumatic brain injury, from when they awake from a coma until the end of their mental confusion (a state of confusion which can follow the coma stage).

"PCRP": Physical and Cognitive Rehabilitation Programme.

This programme is for patients with brain injuries (traumatic or non-traumatic) with predominant motor disorders and related disorders (mental, memory and others). It is most often conducted after the mental confusion period of the"Confused/Awakening" programme.

"NRP2": Rehabilitation and Neuropsychological Rehabilitation Programme.

This programme is for patients with brain injuries (traumatic or non-traumatic) with predominant neuropsychological disorders and minimal or absent related motor disorders; mild brain injury with post-concussive syndrome; former patients for distance cognitive re-training.

"CVS – MCS"Chronic Vegetative State - Stabilised Minimally Conscious State.

This programme is for stable brain injury patients after one year, who are not communicating or hardly at all.
