When technology supports medicine and rehabilitation. The Fondation Hopale launched the Vector this Monday. It's a first in Europe as there are only ten of this piece of equipment in the world including six in the US...

The Vector, or the "Vector System" to be specific, is described as a revolutionary rehabilitation system to learn how to walk in complete safety. It's a new way to help patients rehabilitate. Amputees and victims of spinal cord injuries can benefit from this type of equipment "which is as efficient as balneotherapy based on the Archimedes principle," says Dr Jean Gabriel Prévinaire, Head of Spinal Cord Medicine.

"The Fondation Hopale is renowned all over Europe for its understanding of rehabilitation and technology," says Todd Cushman, president and CEO of Bioness. He is equally delighted with this "first" and hopes it won't be the last.

Benoît Dolle, the Managing Director of the Fondation Hopale, justified this major investment in a difficult climate (380,000€ for the fittings and equipment): "The Fondation Hopale owes it to itself to stay ahead of the game in France with this type of equipment and provide an advantage for patients and therapists." The Director of the Fondation Hopale also highlighted that "this type of equipment involves no additional costs in terms of staff."

The Vector should therefore help medical and paramedical teams provide better support to patients during their rehabilitation and eliminate the risk of falls. The system also has the advantage of re-educating people whose most efficient treatment would be balneotherapy for example.
